I learned how to work square stitch when my older daughter was two. I had been working on a loom, making some designs that were over 100 beads wide. That meant I would have to load all 100 beads on my thread in the proper order, then sew them in place in one sitting. An impossible task with my two year old child. When I discovered square stitch I was also sold on the fact that you do not end up with loom threads when you are done. Square stitch patterns are interchangeable with loom patterns.
This design was made using modified square stitch. It is my go to stitch when creating a solid base to embellish in my beadwork.
